Andrew Yip

When training for his competitions, Andrew was shocked to discover how – in spite of his martial arts background – he was unable to perform a simple full squat. This led him to a simple but important realisation: fitness is more than lifting weights or executing bench presses. Any physical regimen must aim at improving mobility to be truly effective.
It’s a philosophy that Andrew carries over into his training today – whether it’s helping elite athletes be at the top of their game or coaching a teenager who wants to get fit. His workout prescriptions include elements of movement and mobility that are easily incorporated into daily routines. And his proudest moment as a coach is watching his students effortlessly perform moves that they never would have imagined possible.
Despite being a champion boxer and muay thai fighter, Andrew’s take on fitness is remarkably simple: exercise should be fun, engaging and a way to build bonds between family and friends. He is also convinced that keeping fit should not involve being on a strict diet for the rest of one’s life. If you hope to bring a different dimension to your A-game, or simply wish to stay in the pink of health while enjoying your char kway teow, be sure to have a chat with him!
